Home Needs / OT Assessment

Conducted by an Occupational Therapist (OT) this evaluation is typically done in the home environment using both observational and standardised activity evaluation. It includes assessment of the ability to complete ADL tasks (self care, personal hygiene, eating, dressing, Functional mobility) and the more complex IADL activities which relate to the ability to independently, safely and effectively complete these tasks (house cleaning, caring for children, preparing food, managing money, driving and accessing public transport, employment related activity, communication, social, avocational and recreational activity).

This service includes opinion on associated reasonable and necessary attendant care assistance, necessary therapeutic interventions such as education in compensation techniques, the need for assistive devices and technology, environmental modifications and caregiver training.
